Call for Authors: The SAGE Encyclopedia on Aging

Golson Media is inviting academic editorial contributors to The SAGE Encyclopedia of Aging, a new multivolume reference to be published in 2016.

According to the World Health Organization, the fastest-growing demographic in most countries is people over the age of 60. This change in population distribution creates new challenges and new opportunities, as governments, the nonprofit sector and private companies must adapt in order to serve the needs of aging populations. The SAGE Encyclopedia of Aging includes approximately 1,700 articles organized A-Z in the following categories:

  • Abuse and Crimes
  • Biological Theories and Processes
  • Biomedical Aspects of Aging
  • Comparisons: International
  • Comparisons: United States
  • Country Profiles
  • Creativity , Learning, Leisure and Consumption
  • Culture: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Plays and Poetry
  • Culture: Film, Popular Music, and Television
  • Death and Dying
  • Demographics
  • Health and Health Care
  • Income, Inequality, and Poverty
  • Political Processes and Organizations
  • Psychological and Cognitive Theories and Processes
  • Research on Aging
  • Social Theories and Processes
  • Work and Retirement

Each 1,000 to 5,000-word article will include the name and affiliation of the contributor in the byline of the entry. This comprehensive project will be published by SAGE Publications. The General Editor, who will be reviewing each submission to the project, is Dr. Madonna Harrington Meyer at Syracuse University.

SAGE Publications offers an honorarium ranging from SAGE book credits for smaller articles up to a free set of the printed product for contributions totaling 10,000 words or more.
