The University of Minnesota’s April 2016 Symposium on Fashion and the Body is assembling a panel on the subject of “Teaching Fashion and the Body in the University Classroom.” This session will focus on the ways in which instructors craft units, exercises, and assignments which enable students to critically reflect on the intersections between the body and fashion culture, the challenges involved in them doing so, and how instructors productively address those challenges.
Topics for papers may focus on how educators craft assignments focused on fashion and body image, health, ageing, technology, consumption, body modification, and marketing (though are by no means limited to these subjects.) Submissions from all academic disciplines are welcome.
