The Mass Communications and Humanities Graduate Journal is an online interdisciplinary journal for graduate students to publish works about various topics in both mass communications and the humanities. The journal is currently looking for academic essays, book reviews, and intellectual op-eds. The search for papers will be ongoing (at least, until further notice).
Academic Essays: Essays could range between 5-20 pages in length (double-spaced), and could be in either MLA or APA formatting (newest editions). The formatting must be included in the completed manuscript or it will not be accepted. Please make sure your work is thoroughly proofread. If the editors see many proofreading errors, the piece will immediately be sent back to you. The works should be communications or humanities related, which is a broad statement, but is meant to be.
Book Reviews: If you have a book you would like to review, you must find it on your own. The editors do not have a list of texts for you to you use, but are open to all texts that are communications or humanities related (if you wish to e-mail to ask me if the text is acceptable, that would be fine). The text should be from 2014 to the present. The review should be 500-1500 words (no more; no less). Please use MLA or APA style. The editors do not mind hearing your voice in the review; however, make sure you try not to insult or degrade the author or the text. Be as academically professional as possible.
Op-Eds: Oftentimes, academic writers need to voice their opinions about things currently happening in their various disciplines; here is your chance to voice yours. In the op-ed piece, which should be about 1,000-2,000 words, writers have a chance to state their case without the need for academic research. With that being said, still maintain a level of professionalism. The op-ed pieces should be about a mass communications or humanities related topic.
Please make sure you also place your name, your school affiliation, and a 50-100 word bio with the work, in case it does get published.
Send completed academic essays, book reviews, or op-ed pieces to macleodc@cobleskill.edu. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail. To learn more about the journal, visit https://masscommandhum.wordpress.com/submission-guidelines/.
