Call for Nominations: Charles DeBenedetti and Scott Bills Prizes in Peace History

The Peace History Society is pleased to announce a call for nominations for two prizes in peace history, the Charles DeBenedetti Prize and the Scott Bills Memorial Prize.

Since 1987-88, the Peace History Society has awarded the Charles DeBenedetti Prize biannually.  The prize will be awarded to the author of an outstanding English-language journal article, book chapter, or introduction on peace history published during 2013 or 2014 (to be eligible, book chapters must be published in an edited book; introductions must be published in an edited book and must be article-length, be a “stand-alone” piece, and have the same scholarly attributes as a research article).  The prize carries a cash award of $500.  Articles may focus on the history of peace movements, the response of individuals to peace and war issues, the relationship between peace and other reform movements, gender issues in warfare and peacemaking, comparative analyses, and quantitative studies.

If you wish to submit or nominate an article, please provide the PDF from the published journal no later than June 1, 2015 to Mona Siegel at msiegel@csus.edu.

The Peace History Society will also award the Scott Bills Memorial Prize for an outstanding English-language work in the field of peace history.  The prize will be awarded for an outstanding first book or an outstanding dissertation by a faculty member or independent scholar published in 2013 or 2014 and carries a cash award of $500.
